NOVEMBER RINGS IN RIFLE SEASON FOR MAINE’S GIANT WHITETAIL DEER ...
We hunt the big woods of Downeast Maine. It's combination of softwoods and hardwoods with plenty
of Beech and Oak, provides good cover and mast for the Deer. Our Deer stands and ground blinds
target buck corridors and travel ways to and from these covers to the food sources. The areas we hunt
have little to no hunting pressure and bucks can make it to the mature ages of 4 ½ and older, a mature
Maine Whitetail buck can dress out well in excess of 200 lbs. (Maine's state record buck shot by
Horace Hinckley in 1955 tipped the scales at 355 lbs dressed! It was calculated by the official sealer of
weights present at the weigh in, that the massive buck weighed 488 lbs on the hoof!)
While bucks of this caliber are few and far between, Maine still produces many heavy bodied bucks. There isn't one
behind every tree and hunters don't come to Maine to see a lot of deer, they come at the chance of
getting a big one. With patience and trust in your guide, your chances increase a lot.
Eagle Mountain's owner/operator Master Maine Guide Matt Whitegiver specializes at putting hunters
in the right spot to cross paths with big bucks whether you are a stand hunter, still hunter or tracker.
Matt has 30 years experience hunting Deer and has been a Master Maine Guide for 10 years. For the
past 5 years he has guided for Hal Blood in Jackman Maine with great success.
In 2007 Eagle Mountain acquired it's own lodge in Downeast Maine and we anxiously await guiding
Deer hunters in our neck of the woods. The Deer population here in eastern Maine has made a fantastic
comeback in the last few years, so the timing of owning our own lodge and coming home to guide
couldn't be better. This part of Maine produces some of the biggest racks in the state and bucks over
200 lbs are tagged each year.
Don't miss out on the action happening in our piece of the Maine woods. A guided whitetail hunt in
Eastern Maine with Eagle Mountain is a lodging, dining, hunting combo that you'll find hard to beat.
