Freshwater Fishing

Experience some of the best freshwater fishing in Maine ...

 World Class Smallmouth Bass
  Salmon & Lake Trout
  Brook Trout
 White Perch & Pickerel

Maine is an anglers paradise with over 6000 lakes and ponds, thousands of miles of rivers and streams and Downeast Maine is unrivaled for fantastic fishing. This part of Maine is fortunate in that is has a big percentage of those 6000 lakes and ponds offering some of the best Landlocked Salmon, Lake Trout, Trophy Smallmouth Bass, Brook Trout, White Perch and Pickerel fishing in the state.

Each year “Ice Out” marks the beginning of Freshwater Fishing for Eagle Mountain Guide Service. In the early season we are trolling the surface for Landlocked Salmon and Lake Trout as well as spending time on the streams fishing for big Brookes.

If Smallmouth Bass is your species of choice, fishing with Eagle Mountain Guide Service is a must. As we get into late May,  the Smallmouth Bass fishing heats up and we're fishing a spring fed lake only 30 minutes from Acadia. This lake is one of  the Best Trophy Smallmouth Bass Fisheries in Maine..  We strongly promote catch and release.

If you want to fish for Landlocked Salmon, Lake Trout and Smallmouth Bass, we can split the day up. We troll either very early morning for a couple hours for Salmon and Lake Trout and then switch over to Bass while the sun is high in the sky,  or we can start out Bass fishing in the early afternoon and then troll till dark for Salmon and Lake Trout... photo gallery.

If you are visiting the Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, area, and you like to fish, take a day with the family and get in on some fantastic fishing action. This beautiful 1351 acre, 4 1/2 mile long spring fed oligotrophic pond provides excellent habitat for cold water sport fish. The Maine state record lake trout, 31 1/2 pounds, was caught here in 1958 by Hollis Grindle. Bring your swimming suits along, this spring fed lake is fantastic for swimming and snorkeling.

Eagle Mountain provides all the gear you need to fish but if you have a favorite pole be sure to bring it along. When fishing this pond we use our 18' Starcraft pontoon boat. It provides lots of room for the whole family to fish and swim from.

Remote Fishing Trips for Brook Trout, Smallmouth Bass

Maine's trout rivers and streams - more miles of native brook trout water than you'll find in any other state in the country. For the visiting fisherman, that means one thing: hundreds upon hundreds of miles of brooks and streams to explore with a fishing rod. These are fish that have been swimming and reproducing in the wild, without the aid of a stocking truck, in a setting that's still as wild as any left in the lower 48. Our remote fishing trips take you into the big woods of Downeast Maine surrounding the “Wilderness Lodge”. We fish for native Brook Trout in the heart of Moose and Black Bear country. We also offer fly fishing for Brook Trout and remote Smallmouth Bass fishing. There are endless miles of brooks and streams that hold very nice Brookies and Smallmouth Bass. White Perch and Pickerel fishing ponds are also available for Pan fishermen or youngsters in the group.

Small Mouth Bass Fishing ... We have only twenty days to go before our second Smallmouth trip with Eagle Mountain Outfitters. Last June we fished with Matt Whitegiver for the first time. Not knowing what to expect we had an incredible fishing trip. We met Matt the year before when he guided us on an Upland Bird Hunt. He told us he ran fishing trips in the summer. We had such good luck hunting with him, we decided to give the Maine Smallmouth a try. My only regret was that we did not keep a total of how many fish we actually boated and released. Needless to say we were all worn out by the end of the day. Matt has a great setup that is very family friendly. Four of us fished all day and caught all the fish we could handle. I even made the picture board with one of the larger fish. Matt is an incredible guide as well as an outstanding gentleman. We thoroughly enjoy his company! We can not wait to go. I would recommend Matt as a guide to anyone wanting to catch a lot of fish.
