Bear and Moose Hunters stay at the historic Ricker’s Wilderness Lodge located in TWP 24 in Washington County, just 2 miles from our base camp. The Wilderness lodge was built in the 1960’s by Jackie Gleason and Jack Parr. Some of its visitors included John Wayne and Elvis Presley. With its huge field stone fireplace in the main room, you will enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, home cooked meals and friendly conversations by the light of Kerosene lanterns. The lodge has generator power until after supper... All night if needed for medical purposes.
For those who prefer to camp out and take care of themselves, we’ll set you up at one of the many pristine, pond side, remote campsites surrounding the area. Bring your tent or camper and feed yourselves in the rugged wilderness of the Maine woods. A meals only package at the lodge is available for remote campers if wanted.
While waiting to go out for your afternoon hunt (Bear hunters) there are many recreational activities to pass the morning hours, or for those hunters who tag out early including great fishing in the many lakes and streams nearby, or coyote hunting. Bring your camera and explore the hundreds of miles of wilderness dirt roads on your ATV or vehicle. See and photograph Moose, Deer, and Coyote. Whether you enjoy biking, hiking, hunting, riding, walking, boating, fishing, kayaking, or just relaxing by the water, the area has something for you. Your guide will pick you up at the lodge, (bear hunters) take you to your stand and bring you back where a great home cooked supper will be waiting.
