Maine Black Bear Hunts
We have exclusive rights to 38,000 acres of prime wilderness bear habitat.
Eagle Mountain offers quality affordable, 6 day, bear hunts in the remote wilderness of Washington County in Downeast Maine, less than one hour from New Brunswick Canada. We have been hunting bears in this area for 25 years. EMGS has 35+ proven bait sites covering over 50 square miles of prime Bear habitat. In 2010 EMGS picked up another 10,000 acres some of which is previously un-hunted territory!
The average bear harvested is 200+- lbs with a few each year taken or sighted close to the 400 lb mark! A recent state bear study indicates that the population is 2.5 bears per square mile in our territory. That works out to about 3 bears per bait site.
Hunts are limited to 12 hunters per week, with a hunter to guide ratio of 4:1 assuring individual attention which is important to us. Transportation to and from your stands is provided by your guide, and he stays close enough by to maintain radio contact. Your guide also comes in to your stand each night to bring you out. You have your choice of rifle, bow, shotgun, handgun, muzzle loader and crossbow to hunt with ( see Weapons & Ammo). We take full advantage of the time allowed for pre-season baiting and all hunters sit on active baits.
The majority of our rugged 2x4 framed platform ladder stands are placed within 25 yards of the bait. We have double platform stands for those who want to bring someone along to film, sit with a junior hunter or just watch. We also have ground blinds for those who prefer.

We have an informational and safety meeting with each group at the beginning of the week. Topics we discuss include how to size up a bear, what to do if you kill early, going in and out of the stand site etc.... All of the guides stay in the woods, monitoring the radios and are at your stand within minutes of your call. Pick up time is shortly after dark and no one waits long to be picked up. If someone has a bear down, all hunters are picked up first, then we retrieve bears.
Everyone has a great time at bear camp. We don’t set you out in your stand till afternoon, so you have all morning to ride your ATV and explore the endless miles of trails, coyote hunt, or fish the many brooks & ponds around the lodge. For more information on area recreational activities go to our recreation page.
Many of our hunters are yearly repeat customers and any of them would be happy to talk with you about their experience. For a lot more photos, visit the trophy room...

Bear Hunter 2004..."That trip was probably the best one I have
Hi, Matt and Lisa ... Thank you a zillion times over for everything! I'm still “FLYING HIGH!”
I can't wait until my bear is mounted and back home again.
Bear camp was not like we had expected. The food was fantastic and the camaraderie exceptional. We were very glad to see so many share their hunting stories. We never imagined we would have had so much fun.
We know you folks put a lot of hard work into making sure we ate good, had a good time and especially to have a successful hunt. Your efforts did not go unnoticed. We truly appreciated all your efforts and hard work. Matt, a special thank you from me (Paula) for getting me into a tree stand after I tagged out to be near Dick at Washout bait and then into one at Mopang. It meant a lot to me.
I'M AWFULLY GLAD I GOT A BEAR!!! I hope I didn't drive you too crazy with my excitement. Thanks again for all the work you and the guys put into cleaning, skinning and packing my bear for me. Take care. Best wishes. And again,
THANK YOU !!

He will do his very best to accommodate your every need. His staff is very knowledgeable and willing to make your trip a great success. You'll see all sorts of wildlife and breath taking scenery. The lodging is very nice and Lisa does a great job with the meals, you'll never walk away hungry!! I have taken several bear in the 375 to 400 lb range, so if your looking to hunt big bear, I highly recommend giving Matt and Lisa the chance to show you the trip of a life time at a cost that is very reasonable."
