Freshwater Fishing Driving Directions

From Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park Area

  • You will depart from the public boat launch located on the West Shore Road in Otis, Maine. As the dock does not have a physical address, enter “West Shore Road Otis, ME” into your GPS. The town dock is 1. 4 miles down this road on the right, there will be blue signs for the public boat launch.

  • Turn by turn directions:

  • From Bar Harbor towards Ellsworth. 

  • Once through Ellsworth, follow Route 1A heading out of town towards Bangor. 

  • Turn right onto Rt -180 (just past State Police barracks on left).

  • Follow Rt -180 then turn left onto the Gary Moore Road (just past Green Lake fish hatchery).

  • Follow the Gary Moore Road for 2.5 miles.

  • Then turn left onto the West Shore Road (this is a dirt road, disregard the "private road" sign), follow for 1.4 miles and look for the Public Boat Launch sign on the right. Pull in and park in the parking area, your guide will be waiting for you on the dock. 

  • Cell phone reception is pretty good in the area, if you have any questions or difficulties, please call EMGS's cell phone 207-610-9922. It will be on the boat.

Driving Directions To Wilderness Lodge

From Kittery, Maine

  • GPS coordinates to the Wilderness Lodge:   44.878642 N 67.869094 W 

  • You may also enter “Downeast Maine’s Wilderness Lodge” into Google Maps

  • Turn by Turn Directions from Kittery, Maine:

  • Stay on I-95 (Maine turnpike) from Kittery to exit 44 merge onto 295 N

  • 295 N will take you to Augusta where the Maine Turnpike & I-95 rejoin.

  • Stay on I-95 N to exit 182A. Following signs for Bar Harbor/Acadia. This exit puts you on to I-395 E.

  • 395 E will take you to  Route-1A; merge right onto Route 1-A, still following signs for Bar Harbor, Ellsworth.

    • There is a Walmart on Route 1-A in about 1 mile from 395 in the opposite direction, this is your last opportunity to purchase hunting licenses or other supplies if you are traveling in the evening. Please be sure to bring your home state hunting license with you. 

  • Stay on Route-1A for five miles to the first light.

    • If arriving late in the evening, we advise filling up at the 24 hour Irving Gas Station approximately less than 1 mile down 1-A from 395, most of the remaining gas stations on the route close in the evening. Earlier in the day, there is a gas station and small local grocery store at this light that we recommend stopping at for last minute items, G&M Variety closes at 9pm daily.

  • Take left at light onto Route-46 

  • Continue on Route-46 for 5 miles until it’s junction at Route-9

  • Take a right on Route-9; continue on Route 9 for approximately 40 miles, the Lodge is on the right just past mile marker 246.
